Manuscript – Autograph Auction 73 now ‘online’

The 73rd Autograph Auction by Manuscript, Rotterdam offers a broad mix of (442!) autographs, from ‘politics’ to ‘sports’, varying from signatures on a card to signed photos (SPs).
Presented under Politics and History are autographs of the Dutch Royal family, of former Queen Beatrix (6-8), Juliana (51-55) and Emma and Willem III (31) and Prince Friso and Mabel (35). The Belgian Royals is presented by King Albert and Queen Paola (1) and the Princesses Astrid (3) and Marie-José (66). In the catalogue this time again some rare signatures of important figures from the Dutch Golden Age: Jacob Cats (11), Hendrik Hooft (48), Henrick Nobel (71) and Johan De Witt (95). Old French documents (paper and parchment) are to be found (14-29), as well as collections of German politicians (37, 75, 76, 77, 93) and of the United States (80)
Under The Sciences one can find several Nobel Prize winners, such as Mott (107), paleontologists (110), Shiller (113) and Jac. P. Thijsse (114) and of aircraft builder Dassault (100). In the category Music there is a special accent on international ‘pop’ and ‘rock’ artists, such as SPs of Lily Allen (117), Bob Dylan (142), Cyndi Lauper (172), Keith Richards (196) and Gene ‘Kiss’ Simmons (203). There is new chance to bid on a SP of Dutch ‘Shocking Blue’ singer Mariska ‘Venus’ Veres (207). Three big lots are included in this auction representing participants to the Eurovision Song Contest (144-146). Classical music is among others to be found in several lots of single signatures, such as of Istvan Partos (189), and Willem Mengelberg (180). Special interest deserves the lots of George Balanchine (122) and of Bela Bartok (125). ‘Opera’ contains signatures of singers like Karl Ziegler (236), as well as some small collections of signatures of opera singers (229-230).
In the category Literature one can find autographs of Nobel Prize winners Derek Walcott (277-278), Seamon Heaney (266) and Olga Tokarczuk (275). Under The Arts there are autographs up for auction of internationally renowned Dutch artists like Willem M. Dudok (286) and sculptor Hildo Krop (298) as well as international artists of world fame like Henry Moore (303) and A.R. Penck (306). In the chapter Film and Theatre one can find several autographs by directors and actors and actresses; some examples: Pierre Étaix (344), Stanley Kubrick (373), and Fritz Lang (374), and of Christian Bale (319), Sarah Bernhardt (324), Marion Cotillard (335) and Gene Hackman (358). Under Sports there is a nice action-photo of Dutch Feyenoord-player Coen Moulijn (434) up for auction and a promotional SP of a young Johan Cruyff (418). Also on offer are some autographs of Dutch historical Olympians, such as Fanny Blankers-Koen (413), a collection SPs of field hockey players (422) and of swim champion Rie Mastenbroek (436).
